Why do the Buddha images assume such different looks?

Every living being, the Buddha says, possesses the primordial ability

to be enlightened, to attain Buddhahood. Getting down to basics,

cultivate and learn the vinaya, samadhi, and prajna (discipline,

meditation, and wisdom) in earnest, eradicate greed, anger, and

ignorance all disheveled, return the mind to utter purity, deliver all

living beings, gain blessedness and wisdom in full, and ultimately arrive

at the realm of Buddhahood. Every living being capable of becoming a

Buddha, the Buddha images likewise manifest dissimilar appearances.
